Director General, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mr. Ibrahim Arabi has constituted a team to carry out a perception survey on the Impact Assessment of the recent induction programme conducted for Chief Executives, Governing Board members of Federal Parastatals, their chairmen including Universities and Medical Centres.
The team is scheduled to cover the six geo-political zones of the country administering questionnaires to the participating agencies and the non-participant agencies in order to have a holistic view of their perception.
Earlier on, the induction programme was organized by BPSR in conjunction with DFID-PERL to fast-track policy reforms by creating adequate awareness of the diverse roles played by both the CEOs and the Governing Board members without interference or clash of interests.
The first edition of the programme held in July, 2018 at Abuja with a detailed briefing on the mode of operations and individual responsibilities expected of each of the members of Board as clearly stipulated. The second edition also held in October where the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha seized the occasion to inform the Governing Board members of the Extant Rules guiding them.
The SGF emphasized that the Board members do not have the powers to suspend or remove any Chief Executive appointed by the president but can only make recommendations subject to ratification by the presidency.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Arabi charged the team to brace up for the challenges ahead which would come with mixed reactions from their interviewees. He further encouraged them to be tactical in their approach so as to get an objective, empirical and valid response that would form the basis for a policy brief in the future.
