2021-2025 BPSR STRATEGIC PLAN: THE BLUEPRINT WE MUST ADHERE TO, SAYS ARABI

Director General, Bureau of Public Service Reforms has announced that the 2021-2025 strategic plan developed through inputs from various departments and units of the Bureau was a standard document which must be adhered to. He made this disclosure at the 2020 Retreat organized for the staff of BPSR recently in Abuja. He also referred to the five-year plan as one that would assist the Bureau achieve most of its goals and objectives in response to post covid-19.
The DG in his opening remarks posited that the Strategic Plan was an aftermath of the 2019 retreat which marked the end of the recent 2014-2019 plan. He said the plan had clearly articulated the Bureau’s vision and Mission statements and how to achieve the goals and objectives.
According to him, the document was designed to inform the staff of the annual work planning processes and prioritize activities for the monthly vote allocation as well as measure the progress in various departments and units. Speaking further, Arabi highlighted that the specific objectives of the Retreat was for the staff to understand BPSR’s direction for the next five years, identify the role of each team and individual plan.
The Bureau Chief stressed the need to appreciate the requirements to execute the plan with excellence in a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) operating environment. He said the staff should anticipate challenges and brainstorm on the tactics to overcome them.
Arabi thanked the DFID-PERL, Aktiva Consulting Limited, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Successory Nigeria Limited and APCON for partnering with the Bureau to make the Retreat a success.
In a quick response, the representative of DFID –PERL, Mrs. Chioma Itodo seized the occasion to announce that the UK aid organization had undergone a name-change and can be referred to as Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) going forward.
Mrs. Chioma in her presentation to the participants illustrated the importance of team-spirit and the heart for doing good irrespective of the circumstances. She equally reiterated the organization’s commitment to BPSR and described the Bureau as a worthy partner.
Heads of departments and units made presentations on their plan in the coming year (2021). This elicited the roles of each individual in the offices and the expected outcomes and responsibilities in relation to the strategic plan.
The DG in his closing remarks commended the Head, Strategy, Innovation and Research, (SIR) Ms. Mercy Okon for a job well done by getting the support of the private sector in ensuring the success of the retreat within a very limited record time.
