Bureau of public service Reforms “BPSR” is to present its “Self-Assessment Tool” at the high level Economic/ Agricultural summit of the South East Governors forum holding at Abakaliki, Ebonyi state from 6th -8th, 2018.
The Acting Director-General of BPSR, Mr. D.I Arabi stated this recently in Abuja during a courtesy visit by the Deputy Director-General of the South East Governors forum, Mr. Romson Udo. Mr. was accompanied by DFID-PEAL officials.
Mr. Arabi further explained that the Self-Assessment tool is a working instrument developed by BPSR for Organizational self-appraisal. There are several questions within the tool for organization to answer honestly in order to assess how well they do things, “are we achieving our core mandate, do we measure up against good practices, what are our areas of strength, and where are our opportunities for improvement” etc.
The Acting D-G stated that Agencies that judiciously implement the tool will at the end of the day will discover how well they are faring. What are their strength and areas that need improvement? The tool should also assist Organisations in prioritization and action planning. Mr. Arabi said that it is worthy of note, that “SAT” won the CAFRAD Pan-African Public Service Award for Innovation and Improvement of Public Service in 2015 .
Responding, the Deputy Director General of the South East Governors forum, Mr. Ramson Udo commended BPSR for the good work they are doing in reforming the public service. He noted that the visit has avail them opportunity to be better informed on the workings of BPSR. He thanked the Ag. D-G and his management team for accepting to participate actively in the forthcoming South East Governors forum for Agriculture. The theme of the event is “Forging Sustainable Partnerships for profitable farming in the South East”.
