DG BPSR BRIEFS CEOs OF AGENCIES AND PARASTATALS ON STATE OF PUBLIC SERVICE REFORMS

The Director General of Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), Dr Joe Abah, has briefed Chief Executive officers (CEOs) of various Agencies and Parastatals in the country on the state of reforms in the Public Service, particularly in the light of recent merging of some Ministries from hitherto 42 Ministries to 24, as part of the cost cutting measures of the Buhari’s Administration.


In the just-concluded workshop,  for Heads of Government Parastatals and Agencies which held in Lagos on March 18, 2016, Dr Abah updated the forum on the various reforms, their  successes and  challenges, in order to achieve the dream of a ‘World Class Public Service’ by 2025.
Dr Abah focused on sectoral reforms in the MDAs with emphasis on Health, Education, and Security. Others are reforms in Works, Housing, Power, office of the Secretary to the Government of the federation (SGF), Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) and Agencies such as Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), the Police, Immigration, Customs, amongst others.
He further explained to the CEOs the strategic approach to be adopted in the transformation of the Public Service, as encapsulated in the National Strategy for Public Service Reforms (NSPSR) which is undergoing revision to include the vision of the current Administration.
