As part of efforts to ensure effective and quality service delivery to Nigerians, the Bureau of Public Service Reform (BPSR) has been directed to commence immediate facilitation of the implementation of the Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) in all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government.
In a circular signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, the BPSR was also mandated to submit detailed report on the implementation of the tool at the end of the exercise.
SAT is an automated online tool designed to evaluate the performance of an organization being assessed. The Self-Assessment has been successfully conducted on agencies such as: National Agricultural Seeds Council (NASC), NIGCOMSAT, SMEDAN, Nigerian Ports Authourity (NPA) and found to be very educative and useful to improve organisation’s performance. At the end of the deployment of SAT, BPSR had assisted in producing Service guide and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the beneficiaries.
The decision to deploy SAT to MDAs is basically to guide them in delivering better services to the public. It is also planned to embrace Social Responsibility and Accountability to the general public.
The Federal Government has also enjoined all Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments to ensure timely compliance by the Agencies under their supervision.
