He said further that since his Office assumed responsibility for direct monthly payment of pension in November, 2012, the exercise has progressed but not without difficulties. He said that there have been various complaints from Pensioners in the process some of which include omission of Pensioners names from the payroll; Nonpayment of gratuity and death benefits; Harmonization of 6% and 15% for some pensioners; short/irregular payment of pension and payment of long standing arrears (for both Federal and State Pensioners with Federal share); and non-enrolment for monthly pension, etc.
Alhaji Goni Aji reassured all Pensioners and the nation that during his tenure, pension administration would be run in an open and transparent manner. He said that it is in realization of this objective that the new committee was constituted to deal decisively with these complaints and bring succour to our Senior citizens.
The 25-member Committee is headed by the Director, Employee Relations and Welfare in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mr. Zesley Zafi.
